Detail architecture drawings are usually a combination of small cross-section drawings and up-close views of a small part of the building. They’re really important for showing how various elements come together in critical parts of the building. In some cases, engineering detail drawings show how reinforced concrete beams should be assembled. Architecture details show custom design elements or complex junctions like roof eaves and window openings. We recommend starting on the RoomSketcher Floor Plan Gallery as there are lots of home design plans that can all be modified in the RoomSketcher App.

The campaign is putting a heavy emphasis on targeting college students online through its digital program and paid advertising on major social media apps. Given all of this, the best option for Biden now — perhaps his only one — is not to hope the country will begin to recognize his achievements. It is to start drawing a sharper, no-holds-barred contrast with Trump and what it would mean if he is allowed to return to the White House.

Proportion refers to the size of each element and how they fit together within the overall design. Scale deals with how one element looks in comparison to another. Texture refers to how each element looks and feels when seen up close. Finally, harmony refers to how all elements work together within the overall design.

After you’ve completed the basic outlines of your house plan drawing, you can add shading and shadows to give your drawings more depth and dimension. This will make your drawings look more realistic and visually appealing. Once you’ve created the basic outline of your house, you can add architectural elements like windows, doors, rooflines, and balconies. What is a Wet Room Bathroom? Plus Pros, Cons & costs

However, beginners or those looking for a simpler, more straightforward tool might find SketchUp’s advanced features and learning curve a bit daunting. RoomSketcher is a solid choice for real estate agents, interior decorators and DIY home renovators who want to create quick visualizations of interior spaces like bathrooms. While it is relatively easy to use, housing professionals might find the customization options somewhat limited compared to more specialized software options, especially if you do more than just bathroom projects.

What is the smallest size needed for a wet room?

Wet rooms provide an excellent opportunity to experiment with a fun tile design—either on the walls or floor—or to go bold with a paint color that speaks to you. It’s important to choose sanitaryware that is slightly smaller than the average in size so that it can make the room look bigger. A  wall-hung toilet with a concealed cistern, is not just easier to keep clean, but being able to see the floor gives the illusion of a bigger room. Wall-hung bathroom vanity ideas will also help reduce visual clutter and use the bathroom space more effectively. An elevated curb at the entry to a wet area with a shower and tub helps contain the water collectinginside and prevent it from flowing into the surrounding space. You can size the curb accordingly to ensure its top sits at least 2 inches above the drain.

But it might not be for you if you’re working on professional interior projects like bathrooms. Its AI-assisted features and fast rendering capabilities help streamline the design workflow, allowing for quicker project completion. However, while it offers a nice range of bathroom design features, it stops there.

Walk-In Shower Trends & Ideas That Inspire

Small wet rooms provide a spacious showering area and the high-end look of a luxurious hotel spa. They are also level entry, so easily accessible to all, not to mention hygienic and easy to clean. If you can, sit them flush with any tiling to create the illusion of depth, or choose mirrored wall cabinets to stash away bathroom bottles neatly.

Our pivoting body sprays are offered in modern and traditional styles and are made of solid brass for exceptional performance. It’s important to take extra steps with regard to heat, ventilation and drying. A screen will help to contain major puddles, but underfloor heating and heated towel rails will also speed up drying and help prevent slip hazards.

What's the difference between a wet room and a walk-in shower?

The shower may have a glass partition with an opening or it may have no shower screen at all. Additionally, if you have an en suite master bedroom or second bathroom in your home, transforming it to a wet room bathroom with add value when it eventually comes time to sell. A wet room – no matter how big or small – can often leave you feeling cold and exposed, even if the space is well heated. Here, clever color blocking techniques demonstrate how you can break up an empty space, put the shower area in the spotlight and add a much-needed dose of visual warmth.

The fundamentals of wet room flooring

There are lots of benefits to having a wet room – from being able to utilise a small or awkward space where a bath or standard shower enclosure cannot fit, to future-proofing your home. If your bathroom is on the small side, then use the same material to clad your whole space. Real estate agents are quick to point out that a family home without a bath will be less saleable, but there are creative wet room ideas with baths you can explore.

Doorless Walk-in Showers with Half-Glass Doors

The most commonly used materials are ceramic, glass, and smooth plastic tiles. Layout and functionality should be top considerations when designing a bathroom. For example, while it’s easiest to put all plumbed features as close as possible, sometimes that isn’t the most functional layout. It’s best to get an idea of how many people will be using the space on a regular basis and for what.

Solved! Yes, You Can Tile Over Tile

So if your business also tackles projects like landscape designs, patio designs or home additions, you’ll want to choose another program. SketchUp is an excellent choice for professionals who need of a powerful and highly customizable tool for their bathroom design projects. Its ability to handle complex designs with precision makes it a go-to software for professional 3D architects and experienced designers.

Whatever the case, adding a dimmer switch can help ease you into the day or encourage you to decompress at night. With Cedreo, you can swiftly move from conceptual sketches to fully-rendered 3D models, thanks to its intuitive interface and powerful tools. The software streamlines the design process and enables quick iterations and real-time updates, which are crucial for meeting client expectations and deadlines.

A doorless walk-in shower is what it sounds like–it has no doors and no curb, allowing you to walk straight in with nothing to trip over or get in your way. With no panels or doors between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, doorless showers are easier to clean. The curbless entry is level with the floor, which makes it easy for anyone to get into the shower, especially those with mobility issues. Walk-in showers continue to be at the forefront of bathroom design, and for good reasons–they can be beautiful, practical, and accessible all at once. Whether you are planning the luxury master bathroom of your dreams or are planning to accommodate the needs of multiple generations, a walk-in shower should be the top of your list.

wet room bathroom design

A tight color palette, a sleek round mirror, a curbless shower—these are the types of elements that give you that squeaky-clean feeling (well, that and a good sudsing). The 11 minimalist bathrooms we’ve rounded up below are by no means immune to bronzer powder dust gunking up the sink or wet towels being flung on the floor, but they do look orderly through it all. These are just three of the many options and styles of shower doors, and fully enclosed showers are still the most popular. If you crave a warm, steamy shower, an enclosed shower is the option you will want to consider. Some designs, like frameless shower doors, let you have the best of both worlds, creating an open feel while blocking airflow and keeping the bather cozy.

Choose from different tiles, marble, wood, and more to create any style your clients are looking for. Because of the abundant use of water in bathrooms, wall and floor materials are different than almost any other room. Materials need to not only withstand moisture but also be cleaned easily.

As your child grows, reconfigure the space to fit larger clothes, and use the storage cubes and bins elsewhere. You'll probably recognise this look from the IKEA storage systems that use rails and shelves and can be customized. Many other furniture retailers now make similar systems that can be installed in a variety of ways in even very small spaces, including in corners. To keep an open shelving unit neat at all times you'll want to invest in storage baskets and boxes, as even neatly folded clothes will not stay in place for very long. A hanging organizer on your closet door provides extra storage space while making it easier to find your belongings. Here, Lesley Drane of Clean Lines Organizing and Design hung an organizer for shoes.

Everything needs its own space, which calls for multiple types of storage solutions. Think dedicated bins for purses or boots, hanging racks for blouses or dress shirts, and enclosed shelves for folded items, as pictured in this closet storage system by California Closets. Adjustable closet systems are great choices for baby closets or closets in a child’s room. Use a top rod to store out-of-season clothes and a lower rod to keep frequently used items at eye level. Add stackable storage cubes to make use of the space between the clothes and the floor, and use storage bins and totes to contain small items like shoes, toys and games.

Glass fronted doors help light to flow

simple closet design

Choose cabinets with glass doors to showcase your favorite pieces, from sequined purses and wigs named for your friends to signature watches and the ultimate sneakers. You can even install lights inside the cabinets to truly spotlight the ultimate accessories. Pre-designed, yet flexible, modular closet systems help take the guesswork out of master closet design by providing one sleek, streamlined look. Cedar closets do keep moths away, but the cedar scent can permeate adjacent spaces. If you don’t want your bedroom to smell like a gerbil cage, locate the cedar closet in an attic or basement with at least one additional door (other than the door of the closet) between you and it.

Katherine is a professional home organizer and certified KonMari consultant with over 5 years of experience helping clients get their homes in order. She launched her own professional organizing business, Tidy Milso, in the summer of 2020, to help reorient those feeling overwhelmed with both clutter and disorganization in their homes. To date, she has logged over 500 hours of organizing with her clients using Marie Kondo’s KonMari method. Make your small walk-in closet ideas a reality with some clever tips and tricks – you can optimize the space so it transforms from dark and pokey to bright and inviting.

"Consider your preference of hanging clothes versus folded, the length of your clothes, etc. — we see that mistake over and over," says Danna Bitton of Organize Dwell. When it comes to designing a functional closet, there's no need to skimp on style. For a dramatic touch, LA Closet Design uses black wood built-ins and shiny gold hardware and accessories.

A free bedroom corner is a perfect candidate for a small walk-in closet. Again, you do need to be clever about the way the space is used. The most successful corner walk-in closet designs use the two sides of a corner differently. For example, one side can be all open shelving and the other all drawers.

Just avoid folding items that will wrinkle easily, advises the organizing expert. Recessed lighting — like Mrs. Paranjape Design + Interiors uses here — under shelving is the best way to ensure every area is illuminated. Whether it's a small ottoman or spacious bench, don't forget to include a comfortable place to sit — ideal for putting on and taking off shoes. For this luxe setup, designer Nicole Hirsch adds a curved bench with a bright white cushion. Ahead, find genius storage solutions and plenty of design inspo.

Typically, the vertical partitions holding up the poles are used as the sides for adjustable shelving. The components can be shop built and painted on-site or, for a more durable (and expensive) finish, surfaced with melamine or laminate. Closets need some airflow and dehumidification or they become breeding ground for mold, mildew, even insects. A bathroom-size fan, timed to go on and off at regular intervals, will help pull air through the closet even when the door is shut. A small dehumidifier is another way to keep things from getting musty, especially if the closet is in a damp basement.

The vertically-lined wood in a green-blue shade looks gorgeous and clean and proves minimal doesn't mean boring. If you're working with a small closet in an apartment bedroom, every inch counts. Ramming every piece of item you own into such a small space might be possible, but do you really want to be having a war with your closet every morning? It's so easy to forget what you have already if it's not within reach.

If you have a lot of dresses, skirts and pants or prefer to hang your blouses and sweaters rather than fold them, choose an option that offers more hanging rods than shelves. If you fold more of your clothing and store more things in baskets and bins, incorporating more shelf space is the way to go. You might want to think about creating a space that allows for the room to do that. Understanding your storage needs and dressing habits will make it easier to configure your closet so it works for you. Walk-in closets are essentially small  rooms dedicated to clothes storage. They’re usually big enough for two people to share and have their own lighting.

Barbie Dreamhouse Doll House Pool Party & Pet Play Areas

In order to find the square footage, we multiplied the width (40 inches) of the DreamHouse by the depth (15.5 inches) and got 620 square inches. We then multiplied that by three (the number of stories) to obtain a total of 1,860 square inches. Next, we divided by 144 square inches (one square foot equals 144 square inches) to get the total square footage of 13 square feet. Since at 11.5 inches, Barbie measures about 1/6 the height of an average person, we multiplied 13 by 6 to arrive at 78 square feet as our final estimate as to the size of a real-life DreamHouse. When the fashion icon turned the big 6-0, her dream team decided she needed new digs to mark the milestone. Her reinvented DreamHouse, which retails for $179, has three stories, eight rooms, an outdoor area, a rooftop pool and slide, a working elevator, and a garage.

However, when you look a little closer, you'll notice this property is decked out with amenities that speak to what the modern-day homeowner wants. The building includes rooms filled with Barbie dolls along the walls, a staff on hand that will glam up visitors, Barbie-style, and several interactive features.

"After the Victorian foray, we started to to see what looks and feels not dissimilar to the good old 70's townhouse," she explains. Speaking of small spaces, Mattel thought beyond the typical four walls with this foldable, portable alternative. Perhaps the most quintessential dream house is the one Mattel debuted in 1998. (In fact, a similar model was sold as a Christmas ornament later that year.) McCauley notes that—with its scalloped edges along the facade and two-storied silo—this Dreamhouse bears a striking resemblance to San Francisco's Painted Ladies. Move right in and customize the space -- the grass area and pool can be placed in multiple configurations on the first and third floors, and the slide fits in four second-floor locations. After designing the layout, set the scene for any story with three songs, two soundscapes and customizable light settings!

The book examines the cultural and architectural forces that shaped the Dreamhouses over the decades, including Queen Anne Victorianism, midcentury modernism and back-to-the-land granola-ism. From the pastel palette to the Laura Ashley-like floral details throughout the premises, this Dreamhouse feels like a '90s time capsule—with a luxe twist. "How fun is that for inspiration for today's home? The house is vintage with modern amenities like a working elevator!" A sweet balcony and swing for little sister Kelly round out the space—offering the perfect hangout for Barbie's community. "I get a feeling of childhood nostalgia looking at that floral wallpaper and frilly furniture from those dreamhousedesigns," she muses. "It's almost like looking at an old photo where you can’t quite remember, but you know you’ve been in a similar house as kid with the same froufrou bedding." Your dream house will be rolling into Salt Lake City on Saturday to celebrate Barbie's 60th anniversary of her very first house.

Based on how many bells and whistles Barbie adds or deletes, her East Coast, 78-square-foot DreamHouse will cost anywhere between $19,500 and $50,700 to build. McGuirk just listed a 10,000-square-foot lot in a suburb of Boston for $250,000, which would accommodate a lot of Barbie DreamHouses. Either way, you can always trade in one of your vintage Barbies worth a fortune for a down payment. Barbie has opened her new dream house to visitors, and it’s not just young girls who are excited about checking it out.

They used cheap fake grass — the higher quality fake grass appeared too realistic. Mattel later redesigned the Dreamhouse elevator to accommodate the wheelchair. As a child, Maddie Bone, a 28-year-old brand designer, was given a hand-me-down Dreamhouse from a family friend. She felt like she hit the jackpot — it was in mint condition, and it even came with furniture.

There's also a spare room on the top floor, which can be reimagined into a home office, gym, slumber party room for Barbie's friends, or even an in-law apartment for Ken's parents. (Plus, a pet slide and elevator makes this place suitable for those furry friends.) And, on the design front, the open-air structure and slanted pink roofs look a lot like Airbnb's real-life Dreamhouse... "The Barbie dreamhouse was the first time I encountered the idea of home as an extension of a fashionable, charismatic, dynamic woman," shares San Francisco-based designer Emilie Munroe. "It inspired the notion of domestic life emulating personal energy and style, which is a mantra I support to this day." Barbie’s body, careers, lifestyle and house — a hot pink monument of decadence and desire, now equipped with a swimming pool, slide and elevator — have all been qualities designed for children (and adults) to crave for themselves.

How To Design A Tiny House: Ryans Guide To Designing Your Dream Tiny Home

mini house design

A contemporary take on the classic cottage, Shoreline is designed for those who appreciate a view. Tall windows enable you to look out into the surroundings, and the gabled roof, window seats, and porch create a welcoming ambiance. The loft, accessible by a ladder, serves as storage space or a reading nook. This plan is a great backyard multi-purpose structure, but it is designed with all the needs of a stand alone tiny home with a living area, kitchen, and covered porch. The flexibility of the plan allows for the second room to be a private bedroom with room for a built-in closet or small home office.

Ten tiny houses that make the most of their compact plots

Designers Frank Slesinski and Serena Brosio collaborated on the charming living room in the Gatehouse. “One of the main things we did was add a window seat, which looks like it should always have been here,” Slesinski says. “Our whole goal with this space was basically to turn the lights on in the room, bring in the garden that’s outside, and kind of have an experience of a breath of fresh air,” Brosio says. A brick-walled patio became a party-ready outdoor kitchen and dining area thanks to Douglas R. Santicola of Outdoor Elegance. Santicola and Monique Wood installed Caesarstone countertops fabricated by Carlito’s Way Stone to create a functional space for outdoor entertaining.

Modern Tiny House Designs

Choose one that’s functional and smart, with room to grow as your needs change through the years. The best tiny house floor plans for families are as unique as those who live in them. They look different depending on each family’s needs or preferences.

You can apply this design for your tiny home style and I’m sure your kids will love it. That is why I add this one to the best tiny house design ideas today. If you want to rough it a little, this cabin is just for you. The tiny house, raised on piers, features board-and-batten siding, a stickwork fence, and a ship's wheel trim below the porch roof. The bed tucks into a window bay, and a wood stove sits in the living room so you can use the cabin all year.

In the world of modern tiny houses, it’s not just about living small; it’s about living with flair and finesse. Design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about making your tiny house a functional and stylish sanctuary that suits your unique tastes and needs. One of the many appeals and benefits of tiny homes is that the homeowner can “pick up their house and go,” as many tiny homes are displayed as mobile. This appeals to those who dream of living across the country instead of having a single address. However, for sustainability, building a tiny stationary house with a foundation versus a mobile one could last as long as a traditional home if it’s properly maintained.

Cheeky Monkey Tiny Homes provides quality California tiny homes at reasonable prices. These cute tiny houses are perfect for beginning homeowners. The best tiny house is the one that meets your needs and fits your lifestyle. Consider what features are most important to you, such as storage space, unique design elements, or energy efficiency. Think about how you plan on using the space and choose a layout that works for you.

Bluebird Cottage, Plan #2026

You will still have sufficient rooms to put a bed or a sleeper sofa bed, a small-sized closet, and a television. It’s a little difficult to have a gas stove but you can do the cooking outside and enjoy the nature while eating. In the morning, you can lie under the sun and have a bath without being afraid of sun burnt.

The person who helped me with my framing plans was about six inches shorter than me, and I realized he had designed the windows to meet his needs, not mine. From there, you can sketch out a rough floor plan or use a tool to help you begin to create a tiny house layout. The post-it note exercise allows you to create a functional layout—a look at what activities you will perform in each space in your tiny house. When the week is over, you will gather all those post-its, now filled with activities and time estimates.

Tinny Tiny Homes

“I’m all about gardens connecting the architecture into the landscape,” landscape architect Timothy John Palcic tells AD PRO. He used a limited palette of chartreuse and dark hues that nod to the brick exterior and arranged benches to create intimate seating areas within the larger English-garden-inspired space. Native California wildflowers accent the Arroyo Vista Garden, which was designed with fire safety in mind. Landscape architect Elisa Read Pappaterra filled the center fountain with cascading succulents.

It looks just like a fantastic harmonization of elements of nature. If you like swimming or sailing, this one would be perfect. “Strange” is the word I need to use to describe this small house. It could be very hard to discover it in the wide rock mountain if you don’t pay attention clearly. I think it’s great when you want to avoid predators if there are any.

California is home to some of the most stunning National parks in the world (and the birthplace of the Sierra Club). Lemon Cove Village is a tiny house-friendly RV park, situated near Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park. In addition to colors, lighting plays an important role in making your tiny house look good.

If I were on my honeymoon and had to choose among the tiny houses to stay, I would choose this one. It looks sparkling in the middle of the night and completely romantic for couples. Besides, all the conveniences are available inside so it would make a great place for holidays. This cottage clocks in at just 430 square feet, but it still accommodates a bedroom, one full bath, and a tiny porch. The clapboard style helps it fit right into a peaceful clearing in the woods. The roofing of the house uses simple maroon colored metal sheets forming a gable roof.

Greer Lane has signature Southern charm with its generous front porch, beautiful windows, and cheerful shutters. The porch columns add a touch of grandeur, and you can hang some planters for an extra spot of greenery. This country cottage is a comfy mountain hideaway—from the back porch that beckons you to sit awhile to the fireplace and spacious living quarters. You might want to spend all your time here—not only on weekends. Plus, transform the loft area into an additional guest space or personal haven. Find answers — straight from the designers — for the most common questions for this plan set.

California's Hidden Gems: The Venice Canals

In 1993, the canals underwent a $6 million renovation that drained them to remove "80 years of muck" from the waters and restored sidewalks and pedestrian bridges. Today, the Venice Canals are a popular tourist attraction. They are a prime example of California's hidden gems.

Tips for an Eco-Friendly California Road Trip

The restaurant had a live band and the food was excellent. Very pleasant stay and great stop between Cape May and Annapolis. This is a good location to stop in preparation to head down the C&D canal, and Delaware River.

These channels are the only ones that remain liquid today. Nice location and great staff. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Strong currents can be expected.

Dock hands were great and very helpful. Also a great walking and bike path if you're looking for a place to stretch your legs. A very convenient stop along the way. The person that helped us dock was excellent! Very helpful tie up assistance. The owner and his son were polite and the facility was a perfect stopover.

Marina staff is very knowledgeable on currents and did a great job of securing the boat for an overnight stay. Will be using the Marina on my return trip. According to legend and a KCET documentary, Kinney wound up in Los Angeles on his way back from a business trip to Asia and had the best sleep of his life in a local hotel. This convinced him to move west.

Wakes from passing boats were not bad even on a weekend. A little noisier than most places due to the bridge traffic and the restaurant but not bad. Good and pleasant dock help (Olivia). A 2-3 knot current with an easy approach.

Very friendly and competent Dock Master, Steve, guided us right into fuel dock and then around to out spot on the bulkhead. Despite passing ships, there was very little rocking from wakes. Restaurant was good and steps from the boat.

The dock hands were excellent. Got tied up quickly and efficiently in the current. The onsite restaurant was very good. Live music was enjoyable without being too loud.

The water quality is now maintained through twice-weekly natural tidal flushing cycles. Occasionally, seals and leopard sharks venture in through open tidal gates. By 1920, more visitors were arriving by car, parking was scarce, and the area had been constructed for walkers not wheels. Homeowners fought back and litigation lasted for four years. In the end, the California Supreme Court sided with Venice, which had by then consolidated with the city of LA. LA went ahead with the plan and the canals became paved roads (now known as Market, Main, San Juan, Grand and Windward) and the lagoon became a traffic circle by the end of 1929.

Wherever you plan on going next in California, there’s still time to make your road trip more eco-friendly. Most are now bars, cafes, juice joints, tattoo parlors, eateries, and markets. Dockmaster and crew were excellent in meeting all our needs. Location much quieter than Chesapeake Inn.

The staff was super friendly and helpful and really went out of their way for us. The restaurant was great and you are a short dinghy ride to town on the other side of the canal. Because it is a fixed dock, it can be tricky getting on and off the boat at low tide but the staff really does go out of their way to make it as easy as possible. No showers, laundry or grocery nearby.

Lots of knocking throughout the night. If you’re looking for a fun spot to grab a bite and drink this is the place. If looking for a quiet night of sleep it’s not the best.

It was prime rib ordered medium rare and arrived medium well. Always awkward if seen as a complainer. You’ve probably dined at a beach side restaurant, or perhaps a lake side restaurant, but how about canal side? You can do just that at this eatery in Maryland. Once you see the following photos, you’ll want to head to this scenic and historic restaurant asap.

Spring is the optimal time to visit as plants are in full bloom and baby ducks are plentiful. The July 4thweekend is often celebrated with a rubber duck race and wind-powered “boat” regatta. Connected to the Grand Canal, a second set of canals appeared south of the originals, apparently built to capitalize on the Kinney’s success. By 1910, realtors Strong & Dickinson and Robert Marsh & Co were selling lots in the new watery Short Line subdivision.

Bohemian Interior Design: Understanding the Key Elements

boho style design

While you can head to Target and pick out boho-inspired pieces, try your best to also bring in sentimental or personal elements into the space, Sotropa says. "This style can be very forgiving and can be achieved at all price points," Sotropa says. Boho design has been around for decades—but lately, elements of this style are popping up everywhere. “Boho spaces are adorned with an abundance of art, including paintings, tapestries and wall hangings,” Lovato says.

Furniture and Materials

Finally, bohemian design often incorporates silk and chenille fabrics to add a touch of luxury and elegance to a space. These fabrics can be used for curtains, pillows, and upholstered furniture. Whether it's a large potted tree, hanging planters, or a collection of small succulents, greenery is essential. Plants add a natural element to the decor and help create a calming and serene environment. The relaxed, global-inspired boho aesthetic bends traditional design rules to create a personalized look. Boho, or Bohemian, decorating is a way of filling your home with an eclectic mix of culture, life, and interesting objects from around the world.

Get in touch

When combined it’s the perfect marriage of laid-back comfort and sophistication. Boho décor is a style that is totally individual and personalized, though there are some common features. Read on for a download on boho design style and Sotropa's tips for embracing this look in your own home. Candles not only add a cozy and warm ambiance to a space, but they also add a beautiful scent. Look for candles with natural scents like lavender or eucalyptus, and opt for unique candle holders like vintage brass candlesticks or handmade clay candle holders. Bohemian style is a popular design choice for those who want to create a laid-back and eclectic atmosphere in their homes.

Add Palm Springs Vibes

boho style design

It’s a style that celebrates creativity, individuality, and self-expression and is characterized by a mix of colors, patterns, and textures. When choosing furniture for a Bohemian interior, look for pieces that are unique, vintage, or handmade. Consider using furniture made from natural materials like wood, rattan, or wicker. Mix and match different styles and eras to create an eclectic look. Mix and match seating options, such as a small stool or a floor cushion, to create a comfortable seating area.

Also called “bohemian” or “boho chic,” the boho aesthetic is a laid-back, relaxed and individualistic way of decorating your home. While this look began long ago, it has evolved over the years and can be interpreted in a number of different ways based on your style and taste. Boho is short for bohemian, and typifies a style of dress inspired by the lifestyle of free spirits and hippies of the 1960s and 1970s, and even the pre-Raphaelite women of the late 19th century. The rattan egg chair below was what started my desert decor search. I immediately imagined myself in it, curled up with throw pillows and a good book. While my living room doesn’t have the space for this gorgeous rattan cocoon, I’m in luck because it’s actually an OUTDOOR chair!

Rethink the Gallery Wall

Hanging art and decor is an excellent way to add personality and style to your boho space. Look for unique and interesting pieces that reflect your personality and style. Mix and match different types of art and decor to create a layered and eclectic look. The bathroom is often a forgotten room when it comes to design, but the Bohemian style can help create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Start by adding a colorful rug to the floor to add some texture and color to the space. The living room is often the heart of the home, and it is the perfect place to incorporate Bohemian style.

Bohemian design today is about incorporating many different things from different philosophies, parts of the world, and ways of life. The result is an eclectic style that's as diverse as the people who inspire it. Showcase a stunning fabric panel by hanging it on your bedroom wall. It makes a stylish substitute for a headboard when centered behind a bed.

Scandinavian design is characterized by its functional minimalism. Furniture pieces should not only serve a practical purpose but also exhibit clean lines and a sleek silhouette. If you're looking for a unique coffee table, I've got one for you. This light wood number has such beautiful and varied wood tones, and the top is made up of wood slices.

Think textiles with plenty of texture and pattern such as Moroccan-style or kilim rugs; macrame plant hangers; woven accessories like pendant lights and straw hats; and lots of plants. While boho style has long been characterized by a maximalist bent, today's boho-style interiors range from a layered, collected aesthetic to boho chic spaces that are neutral-toned and minimalist. This eclectic home designed by Sean Scherer is a treasure trove of antiques, whimsical fabrics, and cheeky decor. This guest bedroom is a perfect example, and such a fun mix of styles. It's a more classic take on bohemian living, with plenty of retro floral prints and upholstery throughout.

Often, this includes woven decor, vintage furnishings, and vibrant houseplants. While the boho-chic craze has died down significantly since the early 2000s, the advent of highly personal style means that influences of all kinds and multiple trends can all be worn together. Nicole DelaCruz is an interior designer with a degree in Interior Design and Fashion Design. For the past 30 years combined, she has been a successful designer, content creator, design authority, and adjunct college professor. They often feature low-profile sofas and accent tables that maintain a sense of openness.

The remaining accents, such as a black globe pendant light, are few—but pack a punch. Textiles and artwork are two easy ways to infuse boho style into your space. Layer a colorful rug over your existing one, then stock up on embroidered, block-printed, beaded, or tasseled throw pillows.

Layering rugs is also a great way to add texture and warmth to your space. Minimalist Boho is a sub-style of bohemian design that is perfect for those who want a more pared-down look. This style is all about embracing the bohemian style but in a more minimalist way. Minimalist Boho is characterized by neutral colors, simple decor, and natural textures.

Bohemian interiors are all about creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Use plenty of blankets, throws, and pillows to add warmth and texture to your space. Boho interiors are all about comfort, so choose furniture that is cozy and inviting.

Modern Boho is characterized by clean lines, neutral colors, and minimalistic decor. This style is perfect for those who want to embrace the bohemian style but don’t want to go all out. Parisian Boho is a sub-style of bohemian design that is heavily influenced by the French capital. Parisian Boho is all about mixing vintage and mid-century pieces with modern elements to create a chic and sophisticated look.

Bohemia was erroneously believed to be the homeland of the Romani people, the largest ethnic minority group in Europe. Originating in India, the Romani largely led ambulant lifestyles and were known for their creativity, many being skilled artists, musicians, and tradespeople. Bohemian furniture tends to be a mix of styles, often including vintage and handcrafted pieces, Lovato says.

Schaefer's Canal House Chesapeake City, Maryland Chesapeake Bay Marina

schaefer's canal house

Although we were tied on the river face dock we had no wake issues all night. Very helpful & professional, well versed in the challenges of their current. Excellent hours for transients if trying to stretch your day. Nice casual restaurant on site. Staff was great - and knowledgeable of local conditions and setting lines for the 3+ foot tide swings.

Kids menu,

We overnighted on the face dock which are fixed-3 foot tide. Good basic marina with a really good restaurant. If you are picky the noise from vehicles on the bridge might bother you.

Lively and fun but also quiet and calm at night. Good food & drink, with easy access. We docked right along-side parallel to the canal.

Our vessel is definately in good hands with Dockmaster Tom & Manager Steven Connell. They are able to run this top notch facility because of the knowledgable & friendly deckhands. (Olivia Marro, Leah Stubbs, Scott Seisler) Schaefer's is without question your #1 way point when transiting the C&D Canal. Nice people and the dock hands do a great job.

The development opened to much fanfare on July 4, 1905. Red Cars (trolleys) transported people from downtown to the beach. Current and pilings made for a rough night. The restaurant was lively and the food was good. As to the accommodations there is a substantial amount of current through the marina and the tidal change is roughly 3’. With the marina only offering pilings that makes it tough to position bumpers for cushioning as the shifting current bounces the boat around.

Dual pumps made fueling easy and fast. Nice discount for large quantity of fuel. Great line handling from the dock hands. Moved tp the bulkhead for the overnight stay.

This Maryland Restaurant Right On The Canal Is The Definition Of Dinner With A View

Enjoyed the bike trail and restaurant accommodations. Dock crew were very accommodating. The docks and power were very new and more than adequate.

Vegetarian options,

We never encountered such a helpful friendly and funny dockside assistance Restaurant was very good along with the staff. And fun watching all the canal traffic. While Schaefer's Canal House is an awesome marina, they also have an amazing bar and restaurant attached to it that second to none.

Enjoyed our dinner so much we decided to go back for Sunday brunch. Free docks on opposite shore were silted in. One is exposed to canal but very little canal traffic. Tied-up just east of bridge but never noticed bridge noise above our heater-fans noise.

We really enjoyed the bar and restaurant. I would definitely stay there again. Be aware there are no showers or local stores.

Those would be welcome additions that could lead to longer stays. Dealing with the currents in the canal and the huge concrete Chesapeake City Bridge support in the middle of the dock can be quite a challenge. And many a loud speed boat takes advantage of the good fuel prices here. But the people are friendly and the area peaceful, with the restaurant offering decent food and beverage options.

Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean offer as many 19 shore excursions. Oceania Cruises organizes 27 shore excursions, and Princess has 37 excursions available. It is impossible for the cruise traveler to explore the most notable museums in Athens in one day. But, amongst the top 5 museums listed below, a visit to the Acropolis Museum is an absolute must.

In my experience, they’ll take you if there’s no one else about. But the drivers will dump you for a better fare if someone else wants to go to the airport or the city centre for example. To see the main sites like the ones below you’ll need to change from the Piraeus line to an Athens line unless you get one of the buses that goes directly to Athens.

Enjoy your stay in the central port of Athens and discover the best things to do while in Piraeus. Whether Piraeus is a shortstop on your cruise or a day of adventure during your stay in Athens, this historical setting, with its eclectic mix of old and new, has a little something for everyone. Yet, beyond the ferries and naval ships lies a region rich in architecture, archaeology, and culinary delights. A plethora of destinations in Greece can be reached by ferry from the harbour, including islands in the Saronic islands, the Cyclades, Crete, the islands on the Northern Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese, among others. The museum exhibits sculptures and explains the life of the city’s inhabitants over time. The ancient athens stadium was renovated for the first Olympic Games of the modern era in 1896.

Places To Stay Near Piraeus Greece Port

Even faster is the (old) metro line 1, which will take you right to the heart of Piraeus' bustling harbour; plus, the beautiful terminal station built in the 1920s is an architectural gem worth a visit. Piraeus is the largest Mediterranean port in terms of passenger traffic and commercial activity, and most of Athens' visitors simply consider it a transit point to the Aegean islands. However, this city's versatile coastline and numerous cultural stops make it a destination in its own right.

There are a handful of different ways to travel from downtown Athens to Piraeus Port. You can hop on the metro, take a bus, or opt for a taxi ride. Visiting Piraeus Port is a must for various captivating reasons. You can venture to the center of Athens to explore its museums and ancient sites. Once you arrive at Piraeus you will need to do a short walk across the street to get to the port entrance gates.

You can now buy tickets (single, 24hr, express buses) with the TfA tickets (Transport for Athens) app introduced in 2015. Each can accommodate up to 34 passengers, and the ticket is 10€ round-trip/7€ one way per person. On the cable car top station, you can visit St. George Church (Agios Georgios) and enjoy the view from the terraced restaurant and observation point. The neighborhood is flat and easy to walk around, so in case you have difficulty climbing the Acropolis, you can stay and admire the Parthenon from the bottom (it’s visible from the foot of the hill).

To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link. I hope this info helps you know more about what to expect when you arrive at the port of Piraeus, Athens’ cruise port.

Cruise travelers visiting Piraeus have numerous options for exploring. Whether you want to visit central Athens to see museums and ancient sites or prefer to stay close to the cruise port to enjoy restaurants, beaches, and shopping, there are plenty of activities to choose from. The Port of Piraeus is one of the largest passenger ports in Europe. The port’s three cruise terminals are all a 20- to 30-minute taxi ride from the heart of Athens, depending on traffic. The port is also a major departure point for ferries to the beautiful Greek islands.

You will find in Piraeus a small (fun) train with the main stop right by the cruise port. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic cruise travelers may only be allowed to explore Piraeus and Athens if booked on a shore excursion. Regardless of public health concerns, shore excursions are advisable in many cases. Another fabulous choice is the Piraeus City Hotel which features incredible views of Piraeus and is within walking distance of the cruise port terminals. Gallery Suites & Residences offers modern comfort and a homey ambiance.

With very few exceptions most cruise lines that call for a day at the port also have cruises starting and/or ending in Piraeus. For those looking to explore the center of Athens, you will need to take a bus, metro, taxi, or private transfer. The hotel itself boasts a modern yet chic interior and is in a prime location near many restaurants, museums, shopping, and other top attractions.

The metro goes straight into the historical district of Athens. See the location of the metro stop Piraeus and Monastiraki marked on the map above. Piraeus, located in the southeast of Greece, is home to Europe’s biggest passenger port and as such is a huge draw for cruise ships from around the world bringing tourists eager to explore this centuries-old city. With a population of more than 160,000, Piraeus has many attractions to fill an entire vacation including religious and historic landmarks and fantastic restaurants.

We only do specialty restaurants if they're included in a promo. We have a wonderful time on our cruises and don't feel deprived at all. We find that there's plenty to do on the ship without paying extra, and we enjoy getting off the ship and just walking around.

Where does Crown Princess sail from?

Now, other lines like X and RCI do not usually have refundable deposits, unless you pay a lot more for it. They will want ~£13pppd service that is optional so you can take it off. Drinks enough non alcohol available without a package and a bit of PAYG if a light drinker. ( we can stick to tea in cabin & buffet & dinner with the odd extra drink) you can take some beverages on with your depending on port this won't get checked.

However, others want the extras of drinks packages, wifi, and many love the ship excursions or health spa services, private cabanas, speciality dining. But you really don't need all that stuff to have a good time. We also have around £1k costs to get to the ship before it sails on top of the cruise cost, so make that £10k as a realistic end of cruise price. Some may say, but your getting a 14 day cruise for £x but the longer you're on a ship the more you'll spend too, and the cruise lines know this.

Casino hit or miss but have seen jackpots. Hard to find $5 crap table these days. It is possible to cruise base fare only and still have  good time and not give Princess a penny more.. We rarely go on ship excursions and only go to the speciality restaurants with OBC (on board credit). Small compensation, but when a ship drops a port, you are refunded port fees.

Seasoned cruisers understand the importance of being flexible. Itineraries change all the time and you have to expect the unexpected when you choose to cruise. Yes, pay up front for Plus which tbh we wouldn't feel we would get the value for money others may get from this but feel that we should pay for it for the more inclusive experience. Crown Princess deck plans include six room-only decks (Emerald, Dolphin, Caribe, Baja, Aloha and Riviera), four of which are sandwiched between other room-only decks, allowing for quiet nights in a large percentage of the cabins. Additionally, two other decks (Plaza and Lido) offer a mix of public spaces and cabins, but even then, guest staterooms are all located within their own section, which effectively blocks off the noise in most of them.

I think you must have been lured by a low base price and as a result, your expectations were set too high. Once upon a time, cruising was an “ all included” vacation, or almost so. Advertised prices are base, lowest cost inside cabins per person. It doesn’t seem like much until you multiply by the number of passengers and add drinks, specialty dining, excursions and more. There is still a lot included in the price and many cruisers don’t spend much more than that, if at all. It’s up to you whether you want to buy alcoholic beverages or take excursions.

The thread was closed because the person who started it asked for it to be. At any time, they can change their mind and I will open it again. Whenever you start a thread, you have the right to have it closed.

It was quite inexpensive and we paid an extra $5 each to be able to take a later coach should our plane be delayed. We are arriving a couple of days in advance, so the Princess transfer was not an option, but it seems the National Express is cheaper than their transfer. Cruising can often be pretty cheap if you want it to be but you have to work at making it cheap. It can be very easy to let the dollars mount as you upgrade cabins, buy packages, add excursions etc. However, sister ship Discovery Princess, which debuted in 2022, has drawn much praise, too.

The main differences among these vessels are size (Discovery is larger and can hold almost 600 additional passengers), suite options (Crown Princess has fewer), and amenities. It is this last point – along with itinerary – that might tip the scale for many, as the Royal-class Discovery has a better spa and more features, including a jazz club and an infinity-edge pool. One of Princess' Grand-class ships, Crown Princess excels at providing fun, relaxing and enriching experiences for adults, from popular nighttime Movies Under the Stars to decadent spa treatments and culinary tours. Plus, it also features great children's spaces and special programming for families traveling with little ones. I was getting all of my information from that thread for our friends to decide if they wanted to keep our currently booked cruise or switch to the Enchanted Princess.

Eat the non refundable deposit, book something else on land and forget cruising. This could have happened with any line. Refreshed during a dry dock in 2018, the ship was embellished with new offerings, such as super comfortable Princess Luxury Beds in every room, rebranded poolside dining options and an upgraded kids' center. Find your Island Princess Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below. Find your Crown Princess Roll Call by choosing your sailing month from the drop down menu below. If you book a train, be sure to check the schedule and transfers.

We are on this cruise as well...we're doing the Princess transfer from Victoria Coach Station. Cleaning twicr a day of the cabin, Yes just let your cabin steward know you would like both. I have been thinking about Sky Princess' Norway and Iceland cruise in the summer. The last time I cruised on Princess was 1992 on Star Princess in the Black Sea. There is an energy lacking aboard despite the new very active, less elegant, piazza. I prefer smaller older royal ships and NCL breakaway class.

Just say “no” to expensive alcohol packages, onboard sales, spa treatments, and bingo. I think based on your post, you should cancel and find another vacation. Crown Princess generally skews toward a slightly older crowd, with several couples and groups traveling together and young families in the minority, while still attracting a variety of ages and nationalities. To serve the multinational passengers onboard, you'll find several tour options available in languages such as Japanese and Spanish. Southampton to London you can either take the Princess Cruises bus transfer, or you could take the train which would be the cheapest route versus like getting a cab.
